The state of Tennessee is one of the southern states of the USA and is divided into three regions: West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee and East Tennessee. Located in the heart of the state is Nashville – the capital and “Music City”. There, as well as in the rest of Tennessee, vacationers experience a diverse music and arts scene as well as historic architecture and sites steeped in history. Music fans also explore the entertainment cities of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. In Northeast Tennessee, they visit the birthplace of country music, Bristol. From hearty barbecue to award-winning restaurants – from numerous distilleries of the famous Tennessee whiskey to excellent wines and a lively craft beer scene, epicurean vacationers sample the culinary diversity of Southern cuisine. Outdoor enthusiasts and families experience the imposing mountains of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in East Tennessee and visit the showcase city of environmental protection, Chattanooga. Whether hiking and biking in the pristine mountains, kayaking, rafting or fishing in the rushing rivers, or enjoying water sports on the many clear lakes, adventurers enjoy the scenery between campfire stories and nature’s idyll in Tennessee’s 57 state parks.
